What Is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is probably one of the most controversial topics in the marketing industry these days because, until this day, some people are still afraid to go for this change that is considered a major leap for them and just stick with the traditional marketing methods instead. In their defense, they’re a little bit hard to blame because many people have been using it the wrong way which is making it look bad and scares people away from it. And exactly here lies the major point that we should all be looking at, whatever the marketing method you’re using if you’re using it the wrong way and not being smart and/or conscious enough of what you’re doing and how you’re doing it, you’ll totally fail, It’s that simple. To add another point in defense of the social media marketing users, times are changing and we should all go with the flow. I mean for God’s sake who reads the newspaper anymore? Who watches TV anymore? Who gives a damn about looking at a lame billboard in the middle of dodging traffic every morning? Better yet, let me ask you a question, what is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? You check your phone, right? That’s exactly my point. So let’s not judge an entire industry just because a few people weren’t smart enough to use it the right way. I’m not trying to belittle traditional marketing in any sort of way, but social media marketing is totally worth the shot, but more on that later. First of all, let’s have a quick look at what social media marketing actually is because I’m sure you haven’t read a clear definition of it yet among all the misconceptions on the internet. Then, we’ll get to the fun parts!

Social Media Marketing, A Hero Or A Villain?

In simple terms, social media marketing is the use of social media platforms to promote your products and/or services through the use of posts, stories, videos, and all of what these platforms have to offer, depending on the platform of course.

It’s a method that allows you to turn your target audience into a community of yours with a special and wholesome bond using engaging content that makes them part of it and sometimes, making them part of the entire campaign which would make your community grow bigger and stronger over time. This method also allows you to track down your progress through correct statistics and graphs.

What also makes it special is that you can actually study the market online to figure out a strategy that wouldn’t fail if it was well thought out, which is something that isn’t available if you wanted to take the traditional marketing route. I don’t know about you guys but it sounds like a hero to me. But of course, that wouldn’t stop you from having thoughts like, with all of these advantages, how effective can it get? Would it really rock my world?

Does The SMM Hero Have Real Superpowers?

Well, to be completely honest this is up to you. You decide how much you want to take advantage of these superpowers because they are here but you just have to know how to use them because the more familiar you get with how it works, the more superpowers you’ll unlock, and the more advantages you will take. And if you ever feel like it’s too much for you to handle then consult a professional or hire a team or a company there’s no shame in that, that’s what they’re here for anyway. But what would I win? You might ask. Well, let’s talk about that!

In my opinion, there can never be a better way to know what your target audience wants other than being active on social media! There, you can read their minds like an open book and discover what they desire and what they don’t so that way you’ll have the do’s and don’t’s already written for you.

  • Doesn’t Cost You Nothing:

When you want to create a social media profile, what is the first thing that you always see? That it’s for free and it’s for everyone! And even when you want to advertise using paid promotion on these platforms you notice that these promotions are really inexpensive. So you’re basically not paying a dime yet making profits!

  • Allows You To Know How You’re Doing:

There are a lot of tools for tracking your social media profiles’ performance to see how your strategy is doing. A great example of this would be Google analytics which gives you a detailed description of everything you need to know. This way, you’ll get a heads up when you’re doing something wrong and get a chance to change it before it’s too late, unlike traditional marketing.

Have I said Nothing? Of course, it’s totally worth it! All you have to do is play your cards right, make an invincible strategy, and keep investing your time in it to make it better and better over time. Of course, you shouldn’t forget about the most important part of it all, the one that many people always seem to forget and regret which is consulting a professional person, a team, or a company and just let them do the job for you if you think that you don’t have what it takes or if you just want to be on the safer side of things.

You’re doing a lot of hard work already running your business, so the least you can do for yourself is to put your business’ social media future in the right and responsible hands.
